Tanzania Adventure Tours - A Dream That Became Reality

In 2006, Ryan Barker and his father Kimble Barker, were camping in the Serengeti Said Kambelenje, a friend from Ola City, Tanzania. While there, Ryan repeatedly told Said that one day he wanted to spend more time in Tanzania. On the plane back to Louisiana, Ryan and his dad said that if more people could leave their country and experience what Tanzania has to offer it would change their lives and make them a more well-rounded person. 

Even then, Ryan knew the feeling that he and his dad had was the foundation of what a business could be built upon.

Years later, in 2017, Said flew to Louisiana and met with Ryan. It was then that Said and Ryan became aware that this was the right time to established a tour company. Brainstorming began, sketching the original business plan on napkins - which they still have and refer to.  

Ryan and Said pitched the business to Kimble, who was retired and looking for something - and that something was his love for Tanzania and its people. Thus, Tanzania Adventure Tours went from a dream to a reality. 

In January 2018, Tanzania Adventure Tours was founded. That conversation on the plane in 2006 found its way, over a decade later, to fulfill the goal to shed light on the beautiful country of Tanzania and its culture. Sadly, Kimble passed away in 2019 and today, Ryan manages sales and marketing from New Orleans and Said manages tour excursions in Arusha, Tanzania. 

‍Tanzania Adventure Tours has earned high praise from our guests, as well as a consistent 5-star ratings from TripAdvisor’s Travelers’ Choice Awards. We are proud, and humbled, by the recognition we receive, but know that we’re only as good as our next adventure. The dedication that we hold dear is the vision that Kimble had to enhance peoples lives and make them a more well-rounded person.
